Thermopolis is a town in Hot Springs County, Wyoming, United States. Thermopolis has a population of approximately 3,200 people and is the county seat of Hot Springs County; there are approximately 4,900 people living in Hot Springs County.

As might be expected from its name and the name of its county, Thermopolis is home to numerous natural hot springs, in which mineral-laden waters are heated by geothermal processes. It claims the world's largest mineral hot springs as part of Hot Springs State Park. The springs are open to the public for free as part of an 1896 treaty signed with the Shoshone and Arapaho Indian tribes.

Thermopolis is known throughout Wyoming as one of the most desirable communities because of the excellent climate, beautiful surroundings, and friendly people. Thermopolis needs to be experienced to appreciate its desirability as a community in which to live, work, and play.

The town of Thermopolis was founded in 1897 and is a small northwestern Wyoming community, located in the southern most point of the Big Horn Basin.

Thermopolis, county seat of Hot Springs County, offers one county library, three banks, a weekly newspaper, three radio stations, full service hospital and rehabilitation center, Big Horn Basin Children’s Center, and active Senior Citizen Center, senior housing and a nursing home.

Thermopolis is approximately 150 miles from the East Gate of Yellowstone National Park. We are centralized for access to major airports such as Cody, Billings, Casper and Denver. We also offer the services of a local airport and interstate bus line. has an eclectic collection of memorabilia from local pioneers circa 1890 through 1910.

The town is also home of the Wyoming Dinosaur Center, a private organization that conducts paleontology digs in the area. The Hot Springs County Museum and Cultural Center is a also conveniently in town.
